Dr Elizabeth da Silva
Dr Elizabeth da Silva graduated from the University of Sydney in 1999. She trained in Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Canberra Hospital, becoming a dual fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia in 2012. She was the Canberra Hospital/Australian National University fellow in 2013 and 2014.
From 2015 onwards she was a VMO and conducted a busy private clinic at National Capital Private Hospital, and was a staff specialist at the Canberra Hospital. She also worked as an immunopathologist at ACT Pathology from 2018, and continues to work part time as an immunopathologist for 4Cyte pathology. Her Master of Philosophy, examining cellular responses to vaccination, was awarded by the Australian National University in 2018, and she has published articles in international literature regarding immunodeficiency and allergy.
She was conference co-chair for the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) annual conference in Canberra in 2018, and was the ACT representative to the ASCIA council from 2018 until 2021. She relocated with her family to the Gold Coast in July 2021.
Dr da Silva accepts referrals for adults regarding a range of allergic conditions, and non-allergic problems of the immune system including chronic spontaneous urticaria, angioedema (including hereditary angioedema), systemic mastocytosis, sarcoidosis, immunodeficiency (including problems with recurrent serious infections or low immunoglobulin levels of uncertain cause), and recurrent fever syndromes. Dr da Silva also accepts new patient referrals for children 12+ regarding allergies, such as food allergies and hay fever.
Please note: Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) is different from systemic mastocytosis and Dr da Silva does not treat MCAS. Dr da Silva no longer accepts referrals for autoimmune diseases nor regarding COVID-19 vaccine exemptions. She consults Monday to Thursday.
